About Us

Lynnda Best-Wiss

Coaching Experience:

I started training as a serious runner when I was 14 and participated in 2 National Track and Field Championships during my high school years.  After high school, I branched out into other sports including skiing, field hockey, basketball and volleyball.  In the early 80’s while working as a teacher, I coached for 2 years at the middle school level for girl’s volleyball, basketball and track.  In 1984, I changed careers, moved to Boulder and added cycling to my outdoor activities.  Following an injury in 2003, I started swimming and I joined CWW for the 2004 season.  I qualified for the USAT National Championship my first year and have qualified for Nationals every year since then.  At Nationals in 2005-2008, I placed well enough to be placed on the USAT Age Group World’s Team and was a member of Team USA for 4 different World Championships.  I became a certified USAT triathlon coach in 2008.  I have been doing group level coaching at CWW for the past two years in the disciplines of swim, bike, run and transition.

Coaching Philosophy:

My first career was as a teacher and teaching is something that I still love to do.  Coaching gives me the opportunity to combine my passion for teaching with my passion for sports.  I have had the opportunity to have world class coaches – I benefited from them and my coaching reflects the things that I learned from them.

Every individual is different and has their own goals.  As a coach, I strive to help each individual define realistic goals (if they do not already have them), ensure that they have a plan to reach their goals and then help them achieve their goals.  I believe that sports should be fun and should contribute to a balanced life.

Discipline:

Swim (pool and open water):

I work with all levels starting with beginner swimmers (not afraid to put their face in the water and can swim at least 1 length).  My focus with all levels is on stroke technique and endurance.

Bike:

I work with beginners (already know how to ride a bike) up through upper-intermediate.  My focus with all levels is proper positioning on the bike, cycling “know how” and endurance.

Run:

I work with all levels of runners.  My focus with all levels is on form, endurance and race strategy.

Transition:

I work with all levels.  Transition sessions focus on assessment of what the athlete is currently doing and then finding ways to reduce the time spent in transition.
